Sienna, TX

Sienna sits along the Brazos River in Fort Bend County, just southwest of Houston. Originally nineteenth-century farmland and later the site of a mid-century Catholic retreat named after Siena, Italy, the area opened its first modern residential neighborhoods in 1996. Longtime Houstonians remember when the development was called Sienna Plantation, but the community officially dropped "Plantation" in 2019 to better reflect its modern identity. Today, it stands as one of the region's largest and most popular master-planned communities.

Even though homes carry a Missouri City mailing address, Sienna functions as its own distinct suburban enclave. Tens of thousands of residents live across its tree-lined villages, which are managed by active homeowner associations and local utility districts. These neighborhood associations handle everything from landscaping and security to park maintenance and community infrastructure, ensuring the entire development stays pristine and well-organized without relying on a single traditional town hall.

Resort-style recreation is one of Sienna's biggest selling points. Neighborhood hubs like Club Sienna offer water parks, tennis courts, and amphitheaters, while the Sawmill Lake Club features lakeside pools and modern fitness centers. For sports leagues, the 160-acre Camp Sienna complex provides baseball diamonds, soccer fields, volleyball courts, and nature trails overlooking the Brazos River. With more than thirty miles of interconnected walking paths and dozens of neighborhood parks, there is always plenty of room to get outdoors. Association members use private key cards or mobile passes to access these facilities.

Community programming and family amenities round out the everyday lifestyle. The Fort Bend County Sienna Branch Library serves as a bustling indoor gathering spot on Sienna Springs Boulevard, offering children's programs, study spaces, book clubs, and workshop classes. Alongside county resources, the community associations host regular food truck nights, outdoor movie screenings, farmers markets, and holiday celebrations. Paired with on-site Fort Bend ISD schools, Sienna provides an active, friendly suburban setting that makes it an easy choice for newcomers to the Houston area.
