Silverado, CA

Set in the Santa Ana Mountains of eastern Orange County, Silverado is a relaxed canyon community right along the edge of Cleveland National Forest. With fewer than a thousand residents, the town still preserves the rural, independent spirit of its nineteenth-century mining days. Most local activity centers around Silverado Canyon Road, where neighbors cross paths at the post office, community center, and local parks. Students are part of the Orange Unified School District, and everyday errands like grocery shopping or doctor visits take you down Santiago Canyon Road into nearby cities. Canyon life also means getting used to winding roads and seasonal weather shifts, which is an easy tradeoff for anyone who values quiet surroundings and easy access to nature.
