About Sky Valley

Sky Valley is a Rabun County city on the northwest slopes of Rabun Bald, Georgia’s second-highest peak. The place began as a resort development, with Sky Valley Resort opening in 1969; the property included golf, tennis, swimming, croquet, and, for a time, downhill skiing. The resort’s financial troubles eventually led to a different civic chapter: Sky Valley incorporated as a city in 1978. Today the city line reaches the North Carolina border in a zigzag of highway crossings. Sky Valley is Georgia’s odd little mountain municipality, part resort history and part state-line puzzle.
