Skyline, AL

Skyline has a unique backstory. It began in 1934 as a New Deal agricultural community called Skyline Farms, where the federal government helped dozens of families settle on Cumberland Mountain with their own land, livestock, and stone homesteads. While the original farming cooperative eventually wound down in the 1940s, that master-planned rural layout helped shape the spacious, scenic neighborhoods you see across the plateau today.

Perched along Highway 79 in Jackson County, modern-day Skyline appeals to anyone looking for quiet country living with plenty of elbow room. The historic sandstone schoolhouse still stands as a local landmark, and the surrounding plateau offers beautiful mountain scenery, nearby hunting and hiking at the Skyline Wildlife Management Area, and an easy drive down to Scottsboro or Huntsville. It is a peaceful, close-knit mountain town with deep roots and a relaxed pace.
