Slayden, TN

Slayden is a quiet rural community tucked into the scenic rolling hills of northern Dickson County, roughly eighteen miles north of Dickson and an easy drive from Clarksville. With fewer than 200 residents, it offers a peaceful, slow-paced lifestyle surrounded by open pasture and farmland. The town got its start in the late nineteenth century alongside the Mineral Branch railroad, which transported iron from nearby Cumberland Furnace and briefly turned the crossroads into a bustling commercial stop.

As the regional iron industry shifted, the town shrank, even earning a reputation in the 1980s as Tennessee's smallest incorporated town when its population dropped to just 69 people. Slayden has since settled into a relaxed, tight-knit country haven. Today, residents enjoy the privacy and open space of rural Middle Tennessee along Route 235, with everyday conveniences, healthcare, and dining just a short trip down the road in Dickson.
