Smith Valley, NV

Tucked just east of the Sierra foothills, Smith Valley offers a peaceful, scenic slice of rural Nevada living. Home to around 1,700 residents spread across green alfalfa fields, working horse ranches, and sweeping mountain backdrops, it is the kind of place where neighbors wave as they drive by and the night skies stay pitch black. Life here moves at an unhurried pace along the West Walker River, giving residents plenty of privacy, fresh air, and room to spread out.

The valley has a tight-knit, welcoming feel centered around the historic community of Wellington and the local K-12 school. Outdoor lovers can easily spend weekends boating and fishing at nearby Topaz Lake or exploring trails in the surrounding hills. When you need major shopping, dining, or medical services, State Route 208 connects quickly to Yerington to the east, while Carson City and the Carson Valley are an easy, scenic drive to the west.
