Snydertown, PA (CDP)

Snydertown is a Northumberland County borough in the Shamokin Creek country, with wooded hills and farmland around a compact settlement. The first property owner was Godfrey Rockefeller; the land later passed to Joseph Snyder, whose name the town carries. Snydertown separated from Shamokin Township and incorporated in 1871, giving the small community its own borough government. The terrain is mostly hilly, but the creek valley opens enough for roads, homes, and a little farm ground.

Today the borough’s shape is easier to read through its everyday civic pieces than through a long commercial strip. South Main Street holds the borough address, while the council, planning commission, zoning, and wastewater systems handle the local business of keeping a small municipality running. The wider Northumberland County landscape supplies the larger road and service network, with Sunbury and the Susquehanna Valley within reach. Snydertown is not a standalone city center; it is a small Pennsylvania borough that grew out of township land and still keeps its identity in the creek valley, the council room, and the roads between wooded slopes.
