About So-Hi
So-Hi is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in central Mohave County, about eight miles northwest of Kingman. The 2020 census counted 428 residents. U.S. Route 93 runs past the south end of the community, leading southeast into Kingman and northwest toward Las Vegas. The setting is high desert: open ground, distant ridges, scattered homes, and long highway views between the county seat and the Nevada line. The surrounding desert is part of the daily view, with distances measured by highways, water lines, and long trips between neighbors across the plain.
Kingman Unified School District serves local students, and Kingman supplies the nearby courthouse, shopping, medical care, and other daily services. The So-Hi Domestic Water Improvement District covers the community’s water system, another reminder that desert settlement depends on shared infrastructure across a wide area. So-Hi has no incorporated town center; its local shape comes from the road, the water district, school routes, and the homes spread across the Mohave County plain.
