Socastee, SC

Socastee is a large census-designated place in Horry County, just inland from Myrtle Beach. Its name has Indigenous roots, appearing as Sawkastee in an early 1711 land grant, and the Socastee Historic District preserves part of that older local story. Today the community is tied closely to the Grand Strand's growth, with residential neighborhoods, highway access, a Horry County Memorial Library branch, and a location that connects inland Horry County to the beach economy.
