Soda Bay, CA

Soda Bay is a Lake County census-designated place on the south side of Clear Lake, between Kelseyville and Clearlake. The name comes from the bay's bubbling volcanic vents and mineral springs, which once supported the Soda Bay Springs resort; the old resort and baths burned in 1940, leaving pieces of the earlier shoreline story behind. Clear Lake State Park sits nearby on Soda Bay Road, and its shoreline, boat access, and campgrounds keep the place tied to the water. County Service Area No. 20 gives Soda Bay a civic layer of its own, operating a water treatment plant that draws from Clear Lake and serves the Soda Bay, Lakewood Park, and Riviera Heights areas. The result is a CDP read through a bay, a spring, a state park, and the water system that serves the homes around them.
