Somersworth, NH

Somersworth is a small New Hampshire city on the Salmon Falls River, across from Maine. The river, known to Indigenous Wabanaki peoples as Newichwanook, shaped the area's early settlement and later mill development. Somersworth is one of New Hampshire's smallest cities by land area, but it has a dense, working-city feel, with older housing, schools, local businesses, and river crossings to Berwick. It feels practical and slightly tucked away, part of the Seacoast region but more mill-town than coastal resort.
