Originally founded as a railroad stop in the late nineteenth century, Somerville has evolved into a practical base for folks who enjoy country living. Highway 36 runs straight through town, putting you about fifteen minutes from Brenham for grocery runs, restaurants, and medical care, with Caldwell just a short drive north. It provides a peaceful home base near the water with larger cities and college towns still within comfortable reach.
