About Souris
Souris is a Bottineau County city established in 1901, six miles south of the Canadian border. The community takes its name from the Souris River, an international river that enters North Dakota from Saskatchewan, loops through the state, and returns to Canada. Routes from Bottineau and Westhope reach Souris through county roads, giving the small city a regional orientation beyond its compact blocks. Its present map is a northern prairie settlement organized by water, roads, and border geography.
