About Southside

Southside is an Etowah County city in the Gadsden metro, sitting on the south side of the Coosa River in the foothills of the southern Appalachians. It incorporated in 1957, but the area was settled much earlier as rural communities such as Green Valley, Cedar Bend, and Pilgrims Rest. Today Southside reads as a residential river-and-foothills community: local schools, residential neighborhoods, Gadsden access, and a setting that feels greener than the city size suggests.
