About Sparta

Sparta is a city and the county seat of Monroe County, Wisconsin, situated along the La Crosse River. Serving as the western terminus of the historic Elroy-Sparta State Trail, which was established in 1967, the community of approximately 9,950 hosts the annual Butterfest celebration. Public education is administered by the Sparta Area School District.
