Spring Ridge, FL

Spring Ridge is an unincorporated census-designated place in northeastern Gilchrist County, east of State Road 47 and south of the Santa Fe River. High Springs is about eight miles east, Trenton—the county seat—is about sixteen miles southwest, and Gainesville supplies the larger regional frame. This is north-central Florida where the roads, river bends, and spring country do most of the orienting; there is no separate municipal downtown to serve as the reference point.

The Santa Fe River forms Gilchrist County’s northern edge, then disappears underground near O’Leno before reappearing at River Rise north of High Springs. Springs and seepage from the Floridan aquifer feed the river, so Spring Ridge sits in a landscape where water can be part of the map even when it slips out of sight. Keep SR 47, the Santa Fe, and the High Springs–Trenton road line in mind. The local scoop is simple: Spring Ridge is a named rural community beside one of north Florida’s most unusual river systems, close enough to Gainesville for the metro label but oriented toward the river and county roads.
