About Spring Ridge
Spring Ridge is a census-designated community in Spring Township, Berks County, just west of Reading. The 2020 census counted 1,050 residents. Its name sits inside a township with an older landscape: Spring Township took its name from the natural springs that fed the area, while the surrounding hills carried iron, lime, and mill work in earlier centuries. Spring Ridge itself is a later residential community, tied to the roads and services of the Reading suburbs.
The community's schools, shopping, and neighborhood roads form a suburban edge, with Spring Township providing the local government and Reading supplying the larger service hub. A short drive reaches the township's springs and older industrial traces, so Spring Ridge is best understood as a newer residential pocket set inside a much older landscape. The place is more about its setting than a separate main street: suburban homes on one side, Reading-area movement on the other, and Spring Township's older geography underneath it. That setting is the useful local clue.
