Springfield's heart is its historic downtown square, where century-old brick storefronts wrap around the Robertson County courthouse. Today, the square is filled with locally owned restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and the county history museum. Surrounded by rolling Middle Tennessee farmland, the town holds onto its agricultural roots while offering plenty of room to spread out. It sits about 30 miles north of Nashville along U.S. 41 and U.S. 431, giving residents a relaxed small-town atmosphere with a straightforward commute into the city.

The local job market is anchored by a solid mix of manufacturing, healthcare, and education. Companies like Electrolux, Martinrea, and Unarco provide hundreds of industrial jobs, while TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center and Robertson County Schools serve as major employers for healthcare workers and teachers. For continuing education and workforce training, Volunteer State Community College maintains a dedicated campus on Laureate Avenue, bringing college degree programs right into town.

When the weekend rolls around, downtown comes alive with seasonal community gatherings, including popular First Friday night markets with live music, food trucks, classic cars, and dozens of local vendors set up around the square. For fresh air and exercise, the four-mile paved Springfield Greenway winds from neighborhood streets down through wooded parks along Sulphur Fork Creek. Residents frequently head to Garner Street Park near downtown, which features pickleball courts, a dog park, a skate park, and easy trail access.
