St. Clair, MN

St. Clair sits along the Le Sueur River seven miles southeast of Mankato, a small Blue Earth County city with farmland on one side and the Mankato orbit on the other. It was platted as Hilton in 1865 and incorporated under its present name in 1907, honoring General James St. Clair. State Highway 83 and County Highway 15 bring the through traffic, but the river and the school give the town its everyday shape.

St. Clair Public Schools keep K–12 education in one building, with elementary and secondary grades under the same roof. Memorial Park, the post office, and the local fire department fill out the civic map, while the Le Sueur River runs along the edge of town and links it to the broader Minnesota River watershed. The city describes itself as a rural farming community and a bedroom community to Mankato; both sides are visible in a quick drive. St. Clair is close enough to the larger city for work and services, yet still organized around one school, one river, and familiar local routes.
