St. Paul, TX (Town)

St. Paul is a small town in southern Collin County, set along Farm Road 2514 near the shore of Lavon Lake and about eleven miles south of McKinney. The 2020 census counted 992 residents. Its roots reach back to the nineteenth century: a post office opened in 1876, and by 1890 the community had a general store, gristmill, cotton gin, church, and thirty residents. A school was operating before 1880. St. Paul incorporated in the 1970s, but the older rural pattern still shapes the town's story.

The Texas Historical Commission marker at St. Paul Town Hall points to the community's early schools and its agricultural role in south-central Collin County. Town Hall and the marker keep that older chapter visible. Lavon Lake now supplies a major nearby landmark, giving the old farm-road community a waterline on the regional map. St. Paul is the kind of place where incorporation is relatively recent, while the name, roads, church, and fields carry a much longer memory.
