Stanfield, OR

Stanfield is a Umatilla County city in northeastern Oregon, with 2,144 residents in the 2020 census. The place began as Foster, a ranch and store community tied to Portland businessman John R. Foster, then took the Stanfield name and incorporated in 1910. Today it sits at the I-84 and U.S. 395 connection, about ten minutes from Hermiston and within reach of Pendleton, Umatilla, Boardman, and the Tri-Cities. The surrounding country is agricultural, with the Columbia River about 15 minutes away and the larger Umatilla County employment map spread around the highways. Stanfield’s city parks carry much of the everyday activity: baseball and soccer fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, and walking paths.

The public library runs story time, the secondary school keeps the Fighting Tigers identity visible, and the city’s Fourth of July group and parks volunteers fill in the calendar. New residential and business development is adding pressure and opportunity around the I-84 interchange, while city staff keep up with water, streets, notices, and meetings.
