About Startup

Located along Highway 2 where the Wallace and Skykomish rivers meet, Startup is a quiet foothill community with scenic mountain views and quick access to the water. The unusual name dates back to sawmill manager George Startup, chosen in 1901 after local mail kept getting mixed up with Wallace, Idaho. Today, it offers a relaxed, rural atmosphere with plenty of space, great outdoor recreation nearby, and an easy drive along the corridor into Sultan, Monroe, and the Cascades.
