Stebbins, AK

Stebbins, known locally as Tapraq, is a small Yup’ik coastal village on St. Michael Island along the waters of Norton Sound in western Alaska. With a population of around 600, daily life here is deeply tied to the land and sea, centered on hunting, berry picking, and subsistence fishing. It is a quiet, close-knit island community where traditional heritage guides everyday routines, and getting around to neighboring villages often means hopping on a boat, a snowmachine, or a small bush plane.
