Steiner Ranch, TX

Steiner Ranch occupies a 4,600-acre ridge inside a broad bend of the Colorado River between Lake Travis and Lake Austin. The Travis County planned community is surrounded by Austin’s city limits but lies about 18 road miles northwest of downtown. Developer Al Hughes purchased the property from the Steiner family in the late 1980s, and the neighborhood expanded through the 1990s. Steiner Ranch first appeared as a census-designated place in the 2020 census, when it recorded 16,713 residents.
