About Stockbridge

Stockbridge is a Calumet County village on the eastern shore of Lake Winnebago, known locally as the Sturgeon Center of the World. The name came with the Stockbridge-Munsee people who relocated to the area in the 1830s, and the village's civic map still includes the harbor, the Stockbridge Indian Cemetery, and a community hall attached to the fire station. The Stockbridge Library Museum and Archives holds artifacts, art, and ledgers that trace the place from its early stores through the twentieth century. Calumet County Park lies a few miles northeast, while the lake gives the village its shoreline edge. Stockbridge is a small Wisconsin village with an Indigenous name, a fishing identity, and a local archive that keeps the old town records within reach.
