About Stone Ridge
Stone Ridge is recent enough that its homeowners association marked only the community's twentieth anniversary in 2023. During the preceding decade, the population more than doubled from 7,214 in 2010 to 15,039 in 2020, all within 2.59 square miles of southern Loudoun County. Its civic geography is spread among association facilities, county services, a hospital campus, and park-and-ride lots rather than an older town center. Association amenities shape much of daily recreation. Residents have three seasonal swimming pools, eight tot lots, tennis and basketball courts, miles of trails, and the Nettle Mill clubhouse with a fitness center and event space. Loudoun County's 26-acre Byrne's Ridge Park adds an accessible multipurpose trail, wooded areas, picnic space, and fields for baseball, football, lacrosse, soccer, and softball.
Gum Spring Library functions as a countywide public setting inside the community, with storytimes and workshops, a dedicated teen center, and a makerspace where trained staff help with equipment for 3D printing, embroidery, engraving, and podcast recording. StoneSprings Hospital Center on Stone Springs Boulevard provides full-service medical and surgical care, including a round-the-clock emergency department and maternal care. For trips beyond the neighborhood, Loudoun County Transit Route 382 links Stone Ridge with the Loudoun Gateway Metrorail station and the Dulles South park-and-ride. Current commuter buses also leave the Stone Ridge II lot for Washington, Rosslyn, the Pentagon, and Crystal City during weekday rush periods.
