Stony Point, NC

Stony Point is a census-designated place spread across Alexander and Iredell counties in North Carolina. Its post office opened in Iredell County on February 17, 1826, with James Thompson as postmaster, and the name was changed to Stony Point in 1832. The place now sits in the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton region, with Alexander Central High School and East Alexander Middle School serving the area. Stony Point is a western North Carolina community whose two-county map and old post-office date do most of the introducing.
