About Strandburg
Strandburg was settled in 1886 and named for Swedish homesteader John Strandburg, who also became its first postmaster. The railroad helped the Grant County town grow, while the Swedish Lutheran congregation left a lasting landmark in Tabor Lutheran Church, listed on the National Register in 1978. Strandburg’s present rural character is visible in the surrounding farm country and in multigenerational conservation work documented by federal conservation officials. Its history remains legible in both the church and the land.
