About Stuart
Stuart is a Martin County city on Florida's Treasure Coast, set around the St. Lucie River and close to the Atlantic. The area's name comes partly from Spanish galleons shipwrecked off this stretch of coast in the 1700s. Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway later connected the community more firmly to the rest of the state. Today Stuart is known for its historic downtown, boating, fishing, and waterfront setting. It feels coastal and lived-in, with more old-Florida texture than many newer beach towns.
