Succasunna, NJ

Succasunna is a community in western Morris County, occupying the southern part of Roxbury Township. Its name comes from a Lenni Lenape word meaning land of black stones, likely tied to the area's iron-rich geology. The Lamington River drains the community, and residents are served by the Roxbury School District. Succasunna feels like an older Morris County settlement folded into modern suburbia: local schools, wooded roads, shopping, and traces of Indigenous and iron-country history beneath everyday township life.
