About Suffern
Suffern is a Rockland County village near the New Jersey line, tucked at the foot of the Ramapo Mountains. Its location has long made it a travel corridor, from Revolutionary War routes to rail and highway connections into the lower Hudson Valley and northern New Jersey. George Washington and other military leaders used John Suffern's home as a headquarters while in the area, and the Rochambeau Revolutionary Route passes through local history. Today Suffern combines an older village center, parks, schools, and commuter access to the New York region.
