Summerland, CA

Summerland is an upscale coastal census-designated place in Santa Barbara County, California, situated directly east of Montecito. Historically, the area was populated by the Chumash people who utilized natural oil seeps, and it later became the site of early offshore oil drilling from wooden beach piers. Today, the affluent community of approximately 1,350 features local boutique shops, public beaches, and Summerland Elementary School.
