About Sunnyside

Sunnyside is a Yakima County city in the lower Yakima Valley, surrounded by irrigated farmland and agricultural industry. Before Euro-American settlement, the area was inhabited by Indigenous peoples who hunted and lived across the valley. Later irrigation and railroad-era development helped turn Sunnyside into a farming center. Today the city is closely tied to crops, dairies, food processing, schools, and the Latino communities that shape much of the valley's culture. Sunnyside feels sunny, practical, and agricultural, with Yakima Valley work at its core.
