About Surrency

Surrency is a quiet, close-knit community set among the pine woods and farmland of Appling County in southeast Georgia. It grew up around the railroad in the late 1800s, originally serving as a busy depot and timber shipping stop named after local landowner A.P. Surrency. The town even holds a colorful spot in regional folklore thanks to the Surrency Ghost, an 1870s poltergeist tale that once drew trainloads of curious onlookers. Today, it offers an easygoing rural lifestyle with plenty of open space, all just a short drive down the road from Baxley.
