Susan Moore is a small, quiet community perched atop Sand Mountain in Blount County, Alabama. With fewer than 800 residents, the town offers a relaxed rural setting along State Highway 75. For decades, the area was known as Clarence before taking the name of a local matriarch. In the 1920s, grandsons of early settler Robert M. Moore funded a new school in honor of their mother, Susan Moore, and the community officially incorporated under her name in 1982.
