About Susan Moore
Susan Moore is a Blount County town on State Highway 75 in northeastern Alabama’s Sand Mountain region, about 10 miles northeast of Oneonta and 18 miles southwest of Albertville. The 2020 census counted 787 residents. Susan Moore Elementary and Susan Moore High School sit within the Blount County school system, and town hall and the community center sit alongside that school-centered map. The town’s public life stays close to the school, highway, and community center. Oneonta is the county seat and the nearby place for larger shopping, healthcare, and county business.

Most of Susan Moore was known as Clarence for decades. The Robert M. Moore family settled the area around 1865, and two of his grandsons funded a high school in 1923 named for their mother, Susan Moore. The town was incorporated in 1982 and formally took that name later the same year. Highway 75 still bisects the town, linking school, homes, and local businesses to the larger Blount County road network.
