About Susanville

Susanville is the only incorporated city and the county seat of Lassen County, California, situated along the Susan River at the head of Honey Lake. Originally a nineteenth-century logging and mining hub, the town served as a major junction for the Nobles Emigrant Trail and the Humboldt Wagon Road. Today, the community of approximately 14,200 is home to the High Desert State Prison, which represents a major component of the local economy.
