Svensen, OR

Tucked along the south bank of the Columbia River just east of Astoria, Svensen is a quiet rural community of around 850 residents. The scenery is lush and green, with forested hills sloping down toward tidal sloughs and peaceful river islands. Most homes here sit on generous acreage, alongside small family farms and scenic waterfront properties. Highway 30 runs right through the area, giving locals a simple, direct route to neighboring towns.

Because the community is small and spread out, Svensen shares schools and everyday local ties with neighboring Knappa right down the road. The area has rich Pacific Northwest roots, including an 1805 campsite used by Lewis and Clark, but the real draw today is the relaxed, outdoorsy lifestyle. Residents enjoy boating and fishing on the river, tending large properties, and having quiet country surroundings while staying just fifteen minutes away from Astoria's shops, dining, and services.
