Sweet Springs, MO

Sweet Springs is a Saline County city on the Blackwater River, where I-70, U.S. 40, and Route 127 meet in central Missouri farm country. The settlement was first platted as Brownsville in 1838, and the Sweet Springs post office has operated since 1849. River bottoms, fields, and the highway corridor give the city a practical location between Marshall, Warrensburg, and the larger Kansas City region. The old name remains part of the historical record, while Sweet Springs is the name used on today’s roads, schools, and civic buildings.
