About Syosset

Syosset is a North Shore Long Island hamlet within the Town of Oyster Bay, roughly 32 miles east of Midtown Manhattan. Its population was 19,259 in 2020. The census-defined community absorbed the former Locust Grove census-designated place for the 1990 census, then gained some territory from Muttontown and lost an area annexed by Laurel Hollow between 2000 and 2010. Today Syosset lies between Oyster Bay and Laurel Hollow to the north and Plainview and Hicksville to the south, with Woodbury east and Jericho and Muttontown west.
