About Tacna

Tacna is a small census-designated place and colonia in Yuma County, Arizona, along Interstate 8 in the Mohawk Valley. The community sits just south of the Gila River, in desert and agricultural country east of Yuma. Its history reaches back to stagecoach travel, when the Butterfield Overland Mail opened Antelope Peak Station near Antelope Hill in 1859. Today Tacna is served by Mohawk Valley Elementary School District and Antelope Union High School District.
