About Taft

Taft is a city in Kern County, California, situated in the foothills at the southwestern edge of the San Joaquin Valley. Named after President William Howard Taft in 1909, the community of approximately 7,125 developed around major oil fields and features the West Kern Oil Museum. Public education is served by the Taft City School District.
