About Tallassee

Tallassee is a city in Elmore and Tallapoosa counties, Alabama, situated along the Tallapoosa River. The town is bordered by the Coosa River to the west and the Tallapoosa River to the east, historically serving as a homeland for the Creek Nation. Today Tallassee is home to a major hydroelectric power plant at the Thurlow Dam operated by the Alabama Power Company. Public education is provided by the Tallassee City School District.
