About Talmage
Talmage is a Dickinson County census-designated place with 78 residents and 39 housing units in the 2020 Census. The Kansas Historical Society records its post office as established December 22, 1887, the same year the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway reached the area. The Talmage Historical Society traces the town's platting to the railroad's arrival, when a school, Methodist church, and general store at Willowdale formed the local base. The community sits in the Mud Creek valley just south of K-18, with its history tied to grain, milk, and farm-supply trade along the railway corridor.
