Taneytown, MD

Taneytown is a historic city in Carroll County, Maryland, situated in the northern portion of the state. Founded in 1754 and named after early landowner Raphael Taney, the community of approximately 7,900 preserves much of its eighteenth-century architecture within the Taneytown Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. The city operates a local history museum and is served by Carroll County Public Schools.
