About Tatitlek
Tatitlek is a small census-designated place in Alaska's Chugach Census Area, set in Prince William Sound. The community is known in recent history for its proximity to the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill, which badly affected local fishing resources and the surrounding coast. Tatitlek has its own school in the Chugach School District and a population far below one hundred. It is a remote coastal Alaska village where water, subsistence, school, and regional history matter more than formal town amenities.
