Taylor Landing, TX

Taylor Landing is a small Jefferson County city about 13 miles west of Port Arthur, with Texas State Highway 73 forming its southern boundary. The highway leads east toward Port Arthur and west toward Winnie, placing the city between the Gulf Coast industrial corridor and the open roads of inland Jefferson County. Taylor Bayou and the surrounding flat coastal country add water, marsh, and drainage channels to the landscape.

Taylor Landing was once part of Port Arthur's extraterritorial jurisdiction. Residents voted to incorporate on September 10, 2005, by 80 votes to 44, creating a city with its own mayor, commissioners, streets, and utility responsibilities. Hamshire-Fannett Independent School District serves local students, while nearby Port Arthur remains the larger reference point for work, shopping, and regional history. The result is a compact municipality with a very specific Gulf Coast position: close to the port, connected by Highway 73, and still small enough that its incorporation vote remains one of the defining moments in the local story.
