About Thiells

Thiells is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York, situated west of the Hudson River. Known as Haverstraw Forge during the American Revolution when General Anthony Wayne staged Continental Army troops nearby, the community of approximately 4,500 is home to the Thiells United Methodist Church, founded in 1784 as a mission to Native Americans. Public education is administered by the North Rockland Central School District.
