About Tinley Park
Settlement of present-day Tinley Park began in the 1820s as migrants arrived from Europe and the eastern United States. A substantial German American population was established by the 1840s, and the village took the name Bremen when founded in 1853. Tinley Park now spans Cook and Will counties in Chicago’s southern suburbs. The 2020 census counted 55,971 residents, while a 2024 estimate placed the population at 54,856. A park stands near the Oak Park Avenue Metra station.
