About Tontitown
Tontitown is a northern Washington County city in the Ozark Mountains, founded by Italian settlers in 1898. Led by Catholic priest Pietro Bandini, the settlers moved from the Arkansas Delta after finding northwest Arkansas closer in climate and terrain to Northern Italy. That origin story still shows up clearly: Tontitown is known for grapes and wine, and the Tontitown Grape Festival has been part of community life since 1898.
