Town of Pecos, TX

Pecos, officially Town of Pecos City, is the Reeves County seat in the Trans-Pecos region, set where IH 20 meets US 285. The place grew from cattle and wagon trails, including the Butterfield Overland Mail Route and the Loving-Goodnight Trail, so its road map has always been tied to movement across West Texas. The city also claims the world's first rodeo, held on July 4, 1883, when local cowboys turned their everyday rivalries into a public contest.

Today Pecos works as a regional retail, service, and hospitality center, with the West of the Pecos Museum, schools, parks, businesses, and rodeo traditions sharing the same broad streets. IH 20 links the city toward El Paso and the Dallas-Fort Worth region, while US 285 runs north into New Mexico and south through West Texas. Cantaloupes, ranching, energy work, and highway travel all appear in the local story.
